It is very easy to germinate and grow these bulbs. It must have at least 4 inch soil under it for proper growth of roots. Plant half portion of bulb in the potting mix or soil, water it. Even if you keep more portion covered with soil, there is no problem. But most of the plant lover like to flaunt its upper half portion above soil. Within 2 weeks, you will observe new leaves emerging from the bulbs. This plant is famous for its round Caudex. You can very easily trim its dead or damaged leaves, because it produces its new leaves very fast. This plant takes a shape of vine. We can prune it to give a desired shape.
Watering: Do not water too much. Wait for soil to dry out before next watering. This plant stores sufficient moisture in its bulb. It can survive without water for many days. If this plant has dried out due to no watering, this will revive after getting water its soil.
Sunlight: Indirect sunlight or shady area is more suitable for them. Morning sunlight for few hours will be an added advantage for its congenial growth. Harsh sunlight of noon hours may cause sunburn to its leaves which should be trimmed.
Weather: It can be grown throughout the year. But if temperature is below 5 degree C, reduce watering frequency and expose to more sunlight for better growth. Even if you water after 2 weeks during such winter season, there will be no harm to this plant.
Soil: This plant does not require any special soil. Normal garden soil will also show satisfactory results. To make the ideal potting mix, 20% vermicompost, 20% cocopeat and 20 % drainage media (coarse river sand/ Leca/ Perlite/ Pumice or rice husk- use any one of them) in potting mix must be available. Use of vermi-compost (once in 3 months) will improve growth. Drainage in pot is necessary by making sufficient holes in bottom.
