This plant blooms flowers of Yellow, White, Deep Pink, orange, Red and many more (as per variety) during winter season. This prefers cool climate for blooming. Rose is famous for its fragrance all over the world. Its stem is having spines and this plant can attain height of 6 feet, if not pruned regularly. Regular pruning will help to grow with more density and blooming. We should do mulching also so that it helps to conserve water and to keep the ground cool. Mulching is suitable for the micro organisms and worms in the soil.
Watering & Sunlight: Ideal temperature for rose is 20-300 C. This plant prefers to grow in full sunlight. We should water, only when the soil becomes dry. Optimum watering helps plants in protection from unwanted nematodes and pest attack also. Proper drainage by making sufficient holes in bottom of pot is must.
Soil: Well-drained clay soil or loamy soil is must for its better growth. To make the ideal potting mix, 30 % drainage media (river sand/ Leca/ Perlite/ Pumice or rice husk- use any one of them) in potting mix must be available. Moreover, 20 % vermi-compost, 10 % Neem Cake, 20 % Cocopeat and 20% garden soil is must for its healthy growth.
Culinary use: Roses are used in jam, dishes and soup. Use of Rose petals and flower buds are popular to add flavour in ordinary tea.
Ornamental use: Roses are most famous as ornamental plants. They are also used for making perfumes. Some are used as hedging.
