Its blooming is maximum during winter and spring season. Its purple flowers attract everyone. These plants are grown outdoor. It can attain maximum height of 3 feet. This plant can’t tolerate direct sunlight during scorching summer. During adverse weather, leaves tips show sign of sunburn. It indicates that we should shift this plant to shady area. The unique inflorescence attract butterflies too.
Water &Sunlight: Whenever the soil is about to become dry, please water the plant. During summer, regular misting will be better for the plant, but misting should not be a reason for water logging in the pot. Try to keep in shady, cool and ventilated area during summer.It can sustain temperature upto 320 C. During summer season, its leaf tips may burn.
Soil: Its potting mix must be aerated well by use of drainage media upto 20 % (river sand, Leca, Pumice/Perlite or rice husk- use any one of them). All these items help in aeration also. We can mix upto 30% cocopeat and 50 % (mix of vermi compost + sterilised garden soil + 5% Neem Cake) in its potting mix. This plant does not require frequent fertilizers. We may add fertlizers once in three months.
