These plants have fast growth rate. Its small leaves of light green colour look awesome with its purple flowers. This plant can attain height of 5 feet. This plant is almost maintenance free and blooming is continuous round the year. Blooming reduces during winter season (if temperature is less than 15⁰ C). Even during hottest weather this plant continues to bloom. This plant will show satisfactory growth without fertilisers also. However, use of fertiliser shows faster growth and more blooming. It’s a long life plant.

We should prune this plant regularly so that we can give a desired shape to this plant. Regular pruning will make it grow faster. If we plant this on open ground, it can become a shrub also. This plant is very easy to grow.

Watering & Sunlight:

The plant loves to grow in direct sunlight, but it can be grown in diffused sunlight also. Direct sunlight of only 4 hours per day is sufficient for its growth. For more blooming and better growth, direct sunlight for full day is must.  Over watering is to be avoided. A matured plant (height more than 2 feet) grown in lawn on open ground can withstand without water for 2-3 weeks.

Soil:   Drainage in pot is necessary by making sufficient holes in bottom. To make the ideal potting mix, 20 % drainage media (river sand/ Leca/ Perlite/ Pumice or rice husk- use any of them) in potting mix should be available.  Whenever the soil becomes dry, please water the plant. Even with low level of atmospheric humidity (20% ), this plant continues to grow healthily.

Uses:   1.  Ornamental use, landscaping: This plant is widely used in landscaping.

              2.    Hedge Plant :   The plant is very famous for making borders and as shrub also.
