Haworthia Retusa in big Pot- Long Life Succulent

For healthier growth, we have grown this succulent in big pot (diameter-14 CM). It helps a succulent to combat with adversity of summer season. We can grow this succulent even during summer season. The best part of this succulent is that it can withstand with low humidity levels (upto 25 %). During hot days of summer season, it becomes very common that temperature level goes upward and humidity level comes to lowest level. Due to this reason, our succulents start dying due to low humidity, even after keeping in shady area. But this succulent can survive such climatic conditions. We should keep succulents in properly ventilated area. If we keep this inside closed drawing room for long duration, it may adversely affect its health.

Watering & Sunlight:  During winter season, we can expose this succulent to direct sunlight for a few hours in morning. Exposure to morning sunlight will be better. However, this plant grows well in diffused sunlight. We have planted this succulent in big pot. Hence even in hottest summer, we should water  it after a minimum gap of 5 days. We should water, only when the soil becomes dry. Proper drainage by making sufficient holes in bottom of pot is must.

Soil:     Its potting mix must be aerated well by use of drainage media upto 25 % (river sand, Leca, Pumice/Perlite or rice husk). All these items help in drainage also. We can mix upto 50% cocopeat and 25 % (mix of vermi compost + sterilised garden soil + Vermiculite) in its potting mix.
