The plant is drought resistant. The plant is used as hedge plant. Some gardeners make beautiful figures by careful pruning of this plant. This plant is almost maintenance free and it can attain maximum height of 12 feet. If we do not prune this plant which is planted in open ground, can become a tall tree within 5 years. Regular pruning of this plant will increase dense growth of this plant. If you give sufficient water and fertiliser, it shows more vibrant and bright green coloured leaves. It blooms tiny sky blue coloured flowers. Later on, those flowers yield yellow seed pods (round shaped).
Watering & Sunlight:
It likes sunlight but can grow with minimum 4 hours direct sunlight availability also. This plant can grow well in moist soil also. But, we advise to water it, whenever the soil of your pot becomes dry. Such watering frequency helps in prevention of unwanted pathogens also. Leaves’ colour of this plant may change as per availability of sunlight.
Soil: Its potting mix must be aerated well by use of drainage media upto 20 % (river sand, Leca, Pumice/Perlite or rice husk- Use any one of them). All these items help in aeration of roots also. We can mix upto 30% cocopeat, 20 % vermi compost, 20 % sterilised garden soil + 10% Neem Cake) in its potting mix. We may give liquid fertlizers every month.
Uses: Ornamental use as shrub, hedge also. The plant is also used as single plant in pot.
