This plant loves to grow fast in cold climate. Its leaf edges may become slightly red during winter. During rest of the year its growth will be satisfactory. We should keep this plant in shady and cool area with diffused sunlight. This plant can maintain itself properly, if humidity level is above 30 %. However, higher humidity level will be an added advantage. We can easily check current humidity level of our city on www.google.com.
Watering & Sunlight:
During extreme hot weather, its leaves starts getting dried. Levaes tips may become blackish. Temperature higher than 350 C may harm this plant, hence must keep them in cool, humid and shady place during summer season. We may keep wet Jute cloth around the plants in summer to protect from arid climate or any room ventilated with help of desert cooler will also be helpful. But do not keep in room with AC, because AC absorbs atmospheric humidity. We should water, only when upper soil becomes dry. Drainage in pot is necessary by making sufficient holes in bottom.
Soil: To make the ideal potting mix, 20 % drainage media (river sand/ Leca/ Perlite/ Pumice or rice husk- use any one of them) in potting mix should be available. In rest of the potting mix, we should mix vermi compost (25 %), wooden charcoal (20%), cocopeat (20%) and garden soil(15%).
Ornamental use: It’s generally kept indoor in drawing / living room and in terrace area. Use of decorative multi-colour stones will further enhance its beauty.
