This plant is grown in form of hedges also. Its red flowers attract everyone. The plant likes sunlight, it can survive shady area also. This can grow upto height of 8 feet. Gardeners do regular pruning to make a desired shape by this plant. Pruning enhances it growth and blooming. After attaining maturity, its stem becomes woody. It can be grown in a flower pot also (minimum- 10 inches diameter).
This is a maintenance free and sun loving plant. This plant continues to bloom round the year except frost or extreme winter season. To make the ideal potting mix, 20 % drainage media in potting mix should be available. For better drainage, we can use any of these drainage media- river sand/ Leca/ Perlite/ Pumice or rice husk. We should add vermicompost to soil on every two months.
Watering & Sunlight:
Whenever the soil becomes dry, please water the plant. If you grow this plant in shady area, it can be grown, but for blooming minimum 2 hours direct sunlight is must. However, more sunlight will enhance rate of booming. Even with low level of atmospheric humidity (25% ) and high temperature during summer, this plant continues to bloom and grow healthily.
Uses: Ornamental use as shrub, hedge also. The plant is also used as single plant in pot.
